<p>The forward signed for <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/mason-greenwood-man-utd-permanent-transfer-marseille-fans-mayor-protest/bltc7de013950f3f4f3#cs93556e396fbac9f2" target="_blank">Marseille from Manchester United in a deal worth €30 million (£25m/$34m)</a> last summer on a contract until 2029. It's now emerged that Greenwood is one of the top earners at the Ligue 1 club on wages of around €450,000 (£377k/ $485k) per month, according to <em>L'Equipe</em>. The only players earning more than Greenwood in the squad currently are midfielders Adrien Rabiot and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who both command a monthly wage of €500,000 (£418k/$539k).</p><p></p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Greenwood has enjoyed a prolific season to date with Marseille and has netted 15 goals in 26 Ligue 1 games. However, he was <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/revealed-why-mason-greenwood-irritated-roberto-de-zerbi-could-be-benched-again-marseille-boss/blt269848d6c6ea2dba" target="_blank">dropped to the bench by manager Robert De Zerbi</a> before the international break, with the <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/mason-greenwood-roberto-de-zerbi-impressive-marseille-record/blt4921e82b0e7fcad6" target="_blank">Italian openly critical of his performances</a>.
