The injury comes at a dismal time for Arsenal, as they face north London rivals Tottenham this weekend, before kicking off their Champions League campaign against Atalanta. After that, they face Manchester City.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Odegaard has been a key cog in Arsenal's machine under Arteta and he contributed to 22 goals last season as the Gunners launched a serious title challenge. This season, he is yet to score or assist, but has started every game.

Asked about the injury after the game, Solbakken told TV2: "It looked bad in the dressing room too. He didn't have the nerve to continue. It is not certain that Arteta will call me tonight and praise me."
