Injury hell for Netherlands as ANOTHER key player is ruled out of Euro 2024 less than 24 hours after cruel Frenkie de Jong blow

The Chelsea loanee is all set to travel to Germany with the Dutch squad for the upcoming European Championships as he has been named as a replacement for Barcelona star De Jong in the team by manager Ronaldo Koeman, according to <a href="https://www.vi.nl/nieuws/koeman-haalt-maatsen-bij-selectie-na-blessure-frenkie-de-jong" target="_blank">VI</a>.

WHAT HAPPENED?

De Jong has remained out of action since April - except for a 45-minute cameo in El Clasico - due to an ankle injury that he suffered during Barcelona's goalless draw against Athletic Club in early March. Despite his knock, Koeman had named the midfielder in the Netherlands roster in the hope that he would recover before the tournament kicks off. However, the <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/netherlands-frenkie-de-jong-ruled-out-euro-2024-injury/blt2d2aa25891a433cb" target="_blank">player himself confirmed on social media</a> on Monday that he will no longer take part in the continental competition.
