The NFL is continuing its European expansion, with Spain set to be their next venue. Officials from the league visited a number of stadiums last year, and are set to choose between the Bernabeu and Metropolitano — with Real Madrid's stadium a preferred destination, according to <a href="https://www.relevo.com/nfl/pelotazo-nuevo-bernabeu-partido-2025-20231213121001-nt.html" target="_blank">Relevo</a>.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The Bears and the Dolphins, two of the most popular NFL teams in Spain, have been penciled in to play the game, while the Cowboys are also said to be considered, according to <a href="https://www.football-espana.net/2023/12/13/nfl-provisionally-agree-to-host-game-in-madrid-in-2025" target="_blank">Football Espana</a>. <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-us/news/anoine-griezmann-nba-nfl-mlb-justin-fields-julio-rodriguez/blt6d48170b6f12c87e" target="_blank">Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann</a> is a major proponent of the opportunity and has appeared on a weekly NFL analysis show in Spain.

America's flagship football league has expanded around the globe in recent years. They played their first game in London in 2008, expanded to Mexico in 2016, and are set to return to Germany next season.
