<p>CCTV footage shows the ex-Denmark forward and two friends walking through Manhattan last Wednesday just seconds before a knifeman approaches them. One of Bendtner's group was stabbed and rushed to hospital, with the 55-year-old treated for face and ear injuries. Now, Bendtner has had his say on the incident.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>He told <a href="https://ekstrabladet.dk/sport/fodbold/bendtner-vidne-til-knivoverfald-det-er-mig-paa-videoen/10447708" target="_blank"><em>Ekstra Bladet</em></a>: "Yes, I can confirm that it is me in the video. Could it have been me who was attacked? I have no comment about that. But I can confirm that it's me on the video - it's hard to run away from."</p>

WHAT NICKLAS BENDTNER SAID

<p>Reports state the culprit was later arrested and charged with attempted murder and assault. The suspect was later named by police as 25-year-old Joshua Zinberg, of New York, who allegedly suffers from mental health issues.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>Bendtner, who also had spells at Birmingham City, Sunderland, Juventus, and more, may have to appear in court in the future if this goes to a trial.</p>
