Amid Barcelona reportedly <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/barcelona-agreement-principle-sign-nico-williams-personal-terms-spain-euro-2024-sensation-transfer-athletic-club/blt5332f4a89753abdf" target="_blank">reaching an agreement in principle to sign Williams,</a> club legend Iniesta believes he would be a great addition for the Catalan team - who failed to win a trophy last season - but is unsure whether a deal will come to pass.

WHAT HAPPENED?

"The level he’s showing is in line with the national team,” he told <a href="https://www.mundodeportivo.com/" target="_blank">Mundo Deportivo</a>. “We’re talking about Nico [Williams] or Lamine [Yamal], but you could also talk about Fabián [Ruiz], Rodri, Dani Olmo... anyone. Nico Williams has also had a fantastic season at his club, he’s a name that will surely be heard by the big teams. His signing for Barca would give the club another level, but we’ll see what happens.”

WHAT ANDRES INIESTA SAID

Despite Barca's much-publicised <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/barcelona-nine-first-team-stars-register-la-liga-hansi-flick/blt080d0f292bb47ae2" target="_blank">financial struggles</a>, it appears they are pushing ahead to sign the 22-year-old. Williams scored eight goals and bagged 19 assists in all competitions last season and that form earned him a starting spot at the Euros. He has scored a goal and an assist in Spain's run to the final in Germany and that has attracted interest from <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/chelsea-nico-williams-triple-salary-athletic-bilbao-striker-beat-arsenal-barcelona-euro-2024-spain-star/blt97b4ad39338fc035" target="_blank">Barca, Arsenal, Chelsea, and more</a>. If Hansi Flick's side recruited him, that would be a big statement of intent.
