Nintendo Switch 2: Predictions and latest information: release date, pre-orders, cost and more

<p>On 7th May 2024, Nintendo posted on its official X account: "This is President Furukawa. For the first time in nine years since we announced the existence of the Nintendo Switch in March 2015, we will be making an announcement about the successor to the Switch during this fiscal year". Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa, stated that an announcement about the successor to the Switch would be made by the end of March 2025.</p>
<p>On 16 January 2025, it was confirmed that the official name of the successor model would be "Nintendo Switch 2". It was also announced that it would go on sale in 2025, and that more detailed information about the Switch 2 would be broadcast on 2 April. Switch 2 experience events are scheduled to be held around the world from April to the beginning of June, so it's possible that the console will go on sale in May or June.</p>

Can I pre-order the Nintendo Switch 2?

<p>The announcement on 16th January only gave the name of the successor model as "Switch 2", a preview video and information about the hands-on event, and it is thought that more detailed information will be revealed in the broadcast on 2nd April. When will we get more information on the Nintendo Switch 2 launch date?

<p>Most reports have concluded that the release of the Switch 2 is likely to be delayed significantly, depending on Nintendo's strategy.</p><p>At this stage, all we have is the official announcement that it will be released within 2025. What were the past Nintendo release dates?

<p>There is no reliable information about the specifications of the Switch 2. While various reports and speculations are flying around, the specifications are still in the realm of rumours.</p>
<p>It is expected that the Nintendo Switch 2 will have an upgrade on the 7-inch 720p (1280 x 720) screen of its predecessor, with many predicting that the screen of the central unit will be 8 inches in size and have a resolution of 1080p (1920 x 1080). </p>
<p>In addition, according to information sent out on social networking sites by the well-known leaker Kepler, it is also possible that the CPU will be equipped with the T239 chip, which is thought to be made by NVIDIA. Although the performance is modest compared to other company's hardware, it is also rumoured that it may have backward compatibility, as the current Switch also uses a customised Tegra processor made by NVIDIA.</p>

What are the specifications of the Switch 2?

<p>On 6 November 2024, Nintendo updated the official X and announced that "the successor model of the Nintendo Switch will also be able to play software for the Nintendo Switch". It was also announced that "Nintendo Switch Online" will also be able to be used on the successor model.</p>
<p>And on 16th January 2025, when Nintendo Switch 2 was officially announced, it was confirmed once again that it would be compatible with the current Switch.</p>
