'It is nonsense' - Sir Jim Ratcliffe criticised for 'misrepresenting' Manchester United's financial position and warned over Red Devils' bleak descent after Europa League final defeat

<p>Former Crystal Palace owner Jordan has launched a scathing attack on Ratcliffe, questioning his public statements about United's financial situation. Jordan expressed disbelief at Ratcliffe's claims that the club was close to running out of money, calling it "nonsense" and "claptrap." He believes Ratcliffe is misrepresenting the club's financial position.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Ratcliffe's arrival at United was initially met with optimism, with fans hoping his investment would bring much-needed stability and success back to Old Trafford. What is staggering to me is that when you are a leading figure on a listed security, which Manchester United are, they're listed on the New York Stock Exchange, and you make statements that are likely to be patently untrue or to be slightly misrepresentative.</p><p>"So I am staggered that he said that and I'm staggered that someone hasn't said something about it and in fact made a complaint to the New York Stock Exchange about it because when you start misrepresenting positions about stock values or the value of a business, it starts to move markets and manipulates outcomes.</p><p>"I was staggered at the time because I thought it was nonsense. Claptrap. You've got billionaires sitting behind it. They can make funds available.</p><p>"This is not really best-in-class stuff and Jim Radcliffe in his own field is best in class."</p>
