<p>Ederson has been Manchester City's first-choice goalkeeper since 2017 and has won several Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy. However, the Brazilian goalkeeper has been plagued with a groin problem since the start of the season, which has reportedly prompted Guardiola to look for his replacement. </p>

<p>Per the <a href="https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/pep-guardiola-man-city-ederson-35084246" target="_blank"><em>Mirror</em></a>, The Cityzens are planning to <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/man-city-ederson-replacement-pep-guardiola-s-side-identify-priority-replace-goalkeeper-summer-shake-up/blt1a9b5029ee1f1e64#cs84f870d8d1177b17" target="_blank">step up their interest in FC Porto and Portugal custodian Diogo Costa</a>, who has a £63 million ($81m) buy-out clause in his existing deal that runs until 2027. While the English champions consider the release clause too high, they remain confident of landing the player for £50m this summer as the club's new director of football, Hugo Viana, shares a close bond with Costa's agent, Jorge Mendes.   </p>
