<p>It may have been a rainy day in Liverpool, but that did not stop hundreds of thousands from lining the streets to celebrate their Premier League title triumph. During the open-top bus parade, a car drove into a group of pedestrians, prompting a huge emergency response from police. </p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>According to reports from the BBC, a 53-year-old man from Merseyside has been arrested at the scene but it remains unclear whether he is the driver of the vehicle.</p>

<p>The Prime Minister Keir Starmer commented on the tragic incident, saying: "My thoughts are with all those injured or affected. I want to thank the police and emergency services for their swift and ongoing response to this shocking incident."</p>

<p>The area has been cordoned off while police continue their investigation into what happened. There is no word yet on how many have been injured due to the collision. A statement from the authorities read: "We are currently dealing with reports of a road traffic collision in Liverpool city centre.
 We were contacted at just after 18:00 today, following reports a car had been in collision with a number of pedestrians on Water Street.
 The car stopped at the scene and a male has been detained.
 Emergency services are currently on the scene"</p>
