Following the latest Owners Assembly in Liga MX, it was officially announced that the Gallos Blancos de Querétaro have entered the process of being sold, a move seen as a key step toward reducing multi-club ownership in Mexican football.The potential buyer is a U.S.-based investment group headed by Marc Spiegel, who now awaits approval from Mexico’s Federal Economic Competition Commission (COFECE) to finalize the deal.Liga MX President Mikel Arriola confirmed the news, emphasizing the international interest the league continues to generate."We received Querétaro’s update very positively, as it shows negotiations have been ongoing for a considerable time. If all entry requirements are met, we’re optimistic about a successful financial closing under very good conditions. This speaks to the rising value of Mexican clubs on a global scale," Arriola said.He added that the sale would be beneficial not only as progress toward a more transparent league structure, but also as a signal of growing appeal to international investors. While sale figures aren't confirmed,<a href="https://www.marca.com/mx/futbol/liga-mx/2025/04/04/67ef1aea46163f25bd8b45ad.html" target="_self"> it was reported that Caliente</a>, the owner of the team, put a price tag of $35 million for the club.

The transaction would put an end to one of Liga MX’s most scrutinized cases of multi-ownership. Grupo Caliente, which also owns Xolos de Tijuana, took control of Querétaro in 2022 following the violent incidents that occurred during a match against Atlas at Estadio Corregidora.Marc Spiegel is a Kentucky-born entrepreneur who made his fortune in the waste management industry, developing innovative technological solutions and co-founding Rubicon Global, an Atlanta-based company recognized as one of the top firms in the field.

Liga MX president Mikel Arriola emphasized the league's continued growth, both in stadium attendance and broadcast reach, following the conclusion of the Clausura 2025 tournament. "Liga MX closes the season with strong numbers - an average of 22,328 fans per match, totaling nearly four million attendees over the course of the championship, a four percent increase from the previous season," Arriola said.He also noted that television audiences remain robust: "We’re averaging nearly seven million viewers per match. While the final’s rankings are not in yet, they are expected to fall within that same range, which underscores the consumer impact and relevance of Liga MX."
