<p>One starry-eyed fan tried to get close enough to touch Messi when finding himself at the same venue, but he was stopped in his tracks. Fort Lauderdale Police Department took charge of that incident, after they were accused of manhandling the supporter in question.</p>

<p>Footage from a body cam, obtained by <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2025/06/09/lionel-messi-fan-chastised-by-cop-after-rushing-soccer-star/ " target="_blank"><em>TMZ Sports</em></a>, shows cops saying to the 18-year-old: “Brother. You ran after Messi, this happens to you, and you call the police? Come on, man.”
</p><p>The officer goes on to say after the culprit says he never thought “anything bad was going to happen”: “Come on, man. You knew, man. You see videos online. You're a fan, bro. You know how it goes.”</p>

WHAT POLICE OFFICERS SAID

<p>The teenager was escorted off the premises, without being able to collect his hat and glasses, and declined the offer of hospital treatment after complaining of pain in his wrist and neck.
