<p>The French defender left Manchester United earlier this summer after spending three years at Old Trafford. He was initially linked with a move to Inter Miami and clubs in the Saudi Pro League, but eventually <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/raphael-varane-agreement-two-year-contract-man-utd-defender-joining-cesc-fabregas-como/blt4ad5b6298677ea56" target="_blank">decided to play under Cesc Fabregas at Como</a> as he penned a two-year deal.</p>

WHAT RAPHAEL VARANE SAID

<p>The former Real Madrid defender experienced an injury-hit campaign in his final season with United as he remained sidelined for over a month with a muscle injury. He eventually appeared in 32 matches across all competitions, including the FA Cup final as they beat rivals Manchester City to lift the FA Cup.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>Fabregas' side will be next seen in action Monday as they take on reigning Saudi Pro League champions Al-Hilal in a pre-season friendly. Varane, however, could appear for the Italians for the first time on Saturday as they next face Wolfsburg in a second friendly clash.</p>
