Luis Ángel Malagón has become one of the best goalkeepers in Mexican football since joining América. He acknowledged in 2019 that he always admired Oswaldo Sánchez, the starting goalkeeper for El Tri in the 2006 World Cup."I started playing football when I was four years old," he said. "I told my dad to enroll me in the Zamora football school because of him (Oswaldo Sánchez), and that's how it all began. From the age of four to eight, I had all of Chivas' jerseys because of him; my admiration was so great that I wanted to be like him."
