<p>Los Blancos are planning to sign three defenders in the upcoming transfer window as injuries to David Alaba and Eder Militao exposed their lack of depth in the backline in the 2024/25 campaign. They are <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/real-madrid-summer-transfer-plans-revealed-focus-efforts-liverpool-star-trent-alexander-arnold/bltdd41c2cdde2a9eb1" target="_blank">strongly linked with a move for Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold,</a> and <a href="https://www.teamtalk.com/tottenham-hotspur/sources-real-madrid-have-two-tottenham-defenders-on-their-radar" target="_blank">TEAMtalk </a>now reports that they are keen on signing Tottenham's World Cup-winning centre-back Cristian Romero.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Romero, whose current contract runs until 2027, does not have a release clause in his existing deal, but the North London side will reportedly demand a fee in the region of £60million ($77m). Other than Romero, the Spanish giants also have their eyes on another Spurs defender, Pedro Porro, whom they have kept on their shortlist in case they miss out on Alexander-Arnold.</p>

<p>Carlo Ancelotti is also keen on signing young Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite. Manchester United were linked with a move for the English centre-back last summer, however, they eventually ended up signing Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich. The Toffees are likely to demand over £70m ($90m) in transfer fees for their star player.</p>
