<p><a href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6329084/2025/05/03/real-madrid-defence-injuries-transfers/" target="_blank">The Athletic</a> claims that Tah, who is out of contract this summer and <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/bayer-leverkusen-stalwart-wanted-by-la-liga-giants-liverpool-confirms-imminent-exit/blte5eeccbf411619ed" target="_blank">will not sign an extension at Leverkusen</a>, was offered to Madrid months ago but was turned down. However, the report adds that the centre-back could head to Los Blancos if Alonso is made their next manager.</p>

<p>The 29-year-old has long been a <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/bayern-munich-barcelona-real-madrid-bundesliga-giants-move-jonathan-tah-in-demand-defender-free-transfer/blt7f5df7655be044ce#cs341112106c82eeaa" target="_blank">target for Bayern Munich,</a> but <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/man-utd-capitalise-barcelona-uncertainty-red-devils-plot-move-jonathan-tah-bayer-leverkusen-defender-agreement-with-hansi-flick/blte43be05a1d0f6488#cscc900acc8f8ac223" target="_blank">Barcelona and Manchester United</a> have been linked with the defender more recently. He will not be short of options this summer, but it seems a move to Madrid may be contingent on Alonso heading to the Spanish giants; something that is a possibility as he is the <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-us/lists/xabi-alonso-real-madrid-two-players-wants-to-sign-if-he-replaces-carlo-ancelotti-as-manager/blt1b02e0d1c5b090fd" target="_blank">favourite to replace Ancelotti at the end of the season</a>.</p>
