<p>Reinier joined Real Madrid in January 2020 from Flamengo but has never featured in an official match for the senior team. He has <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-in/news/real-madrid-reinier-loan-first-team-squad/blta279f93ec79a8e69" target="_blank">instead gone out on four loan spells</a> - to Borussia Dortmund, Girona, Frosinone and Granada - <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-in/lists/what-happened-reinier-new-kaka-failed-follow-vinicius-jr-footsteps-real-madrid/bltc01576ca4f3b91d6" target="_blank">without making a strong impression</a>. With his contract running until 2026 and no suitors in sight, Madrid are now ready to cut ties altogether, as per <a href="https://as.com/futbol/primera/callejon-sin-salida-para-reinier-n/" target="_blank">Spanish publication AS</a>.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Reinier’s case has also come at a time when the club is restructuring, with new manager Xabi Alonso having brought in several new names and moved on veteran players this summer. With limited squad space and no clear future, keeping Reinier offers no long-term value to Real, as they do not want the midfielder to return to the second team either.</p>

<p>Reinier was once seen as one of Brazil’s brightest talents, prompting Madrid to pay €30m for him at just 18. Despite the hype, he never earned the trust of any Real manager and spent most of his time on the fringes. Even Xabi Alonso’s coaching staff sees no role for him and the Spanish coach wants the Brazilian dropped this summer. </p>
