<p>Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca confirmed on Thursday that the full-back has been <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/made-of-glass-reece-james-hit-with-cruel-insults-told-he-should-retire-chelsea-star-sidelined-another-injury/bltb72f12ccd3445298" target="_blank">ruled out after suffering a new hamstring injury in training</a>. The 24-year-old had <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/reece-james-available-chelsea-enzo-maresca-reveals-plan-prevent-captain-suffering-another-injury/blt36717b23d95fa02b" target="_blank">only just returned from injury in October</a> and has made just four appearances this season.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Injuries have plagued James' career in recent years. Knee and hamstring problems limited him to just 16 league games in the 2022-23 season and his appearances were cut to just 10 in the top-flight last term. The latest upset resulted in <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/made-of-glass-reece-james-hit-with-cruel-insults-told-he-should-retire-chelsea-star-sidelined-another-injury/bltb72f12ccd3445298" target="_blank">many fans calling for him to simply retire</a>, but the England international insists he will not give up.</p>

Another challenge ahead accepted. Eventually I'll come out on top. Against all odds. </p><p>"Lastly, I'd like to touch on the festive period coming, these times are tough for everyone!
