Competing in the Championship will, however, not be easy.</p>

Here’s where the TV money changes, here’s how you get X, Y and Z.</p><p>“Everybody is very aware of what would be required, which is good. When we had that Zoom, I watched like a hawk and was looking at Rob and Ryan’s boxes – what do their faces do when these numbers come up? They both looked very calm, which was good! </p><p>“What the accounts showed recently is that, despite what many fans of other clubs have thought and felt – Rob and Ryan are just pumping money into this thing and they’re messing with the salary cap – it’s not. We have spent our sponsorship money on things. </p><p>“We will go up into the Championship, maybe not this season but we will at some stage, and correspondingly those sponsorship deals will get bigger, the TV money will get bigger, and we will find ways to pay for it that do not include lumping a load of debt onto the football club.”</p>

WHAT HUMPHREY KER SAID

<p>Wrexham occupy an automatic promotion spot in League One at present. They do, however, have Wycombe breathing down their neck and know that there is <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/ryan-reynolds-rob-mcelhenney-bigger-name-manager-wrexham-phil-parkinson-long-ball-tactics-championship/bltac9446da7709a915" target="_blank">little margin for error across their seven remaining fixtures</a> – the first of which will see Parkinson’s side pay a visit to struggling Cambridge on Tuesday.</p>
