Ex-Arsenal and Man Utd star Robin van Persie's son Shaqueel follows in his father's footsteps by signing new Feyenoord contract

<p>Following in his father's footsteps, Shaqueel joined Feyenoord's academy in 2017 after spending two seasons at Manchester City's youth system. WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>After signing the dotted lines, Shaqueel told <a href="https://www.feyenoord.com/nl/news/shaqueel-van-persie-tekent-bij-tot-medio-2028-090125" target="_blank">Feyenoord's official website</a>: "It makes me feel proud that I can wear the Feyenoord shirt for the coming seasons. I feel a lot of confidence from the club and I work hard every day at Varkenoord to achieve my goals."</p>

WHAT HAS BEEN SAID

<p>Van Persie started his career at Feyenoord before moving to Arsenal in 2004 where he spent eight years. In 2012, in a much-hyped transfer move, the Dutch forward joined Manchester United and in his maiden season at Old Trafford he won his first and only Premier League title. He returned to the Netherlands in January 2018 and spent one and a half seasons at his boyhood club before hanging up his boots.</p>
