<p>The Portuguese coach is <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/man-utd-ruben-amorim-sporting-cp-erik-ten-hag-premier-league/blt1692255b89292163" target="_blank">poised to take the United job</a> as the club want to <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/man-utd-aiming-appoint-ruben-amorim-chelsea-clash-sporting-cp-boss-advanced-talks-replace-erik-ten-hag/blt8500017075496dde" target="_blank">appoint a new manager as early as possible</a> after parting ways with Erik ten Hag on Monday. They have already initiated talks with Sporting CP and the coach's representative and want to seal a move by the end of this week.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Amorim has confirmed the Red Devils' interest in him, however, he clarified that it is up to him to make a final decision on his future. The 39-year-old joined the Liga Portugal side in 2020 and under his tutelage, the club has won four trophies including two league titles. His <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/special-clause-man-utd-can-appoint-ruben-amorim-without-paying-full-release-clause-sporting-cp-coach/blt813bac3558a0c46c#cs8303fec2f67fb55b" target="_blank">current contract with Sporting</a> is valid until 2026.</p>

<p>Speaking to reporters about his links to Old Trafford, the Sporting manager said: "Manchester United is interested. But it's my choice. Until everything is decided, we won't be making any noise. I have nothing useful to say. I will take on whatever I want to do, as I have always done."</p>
