Wrexham take on local rivals Newport on Saturday in League Two, with County eager to put one over their neighbours. The club's rise also means their rivalry with Newport can be renewed after finally escaping non-league football. Former County defender Mark O'Brien is expecting a hot atmosphere for the game and says fans are desperate to put one over Wrexham after seeing the club become headline news following their takeover.

WHAT HAPPENED?

He told <a href="https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/67763556" target="_blank">BBC Sport</a>: "There's unfinished business, or something between the two teams. There's a rivalry that's been built up over the years and come Saturday, I think it's going to be a memorable atmosphere."People are always saying 'you have to beat Wrexham, you have to beat them'. For what we did in the play-offs and in the FA Cup, I just think it's something where the Wrexham fans always have that little bit against Newport, because Newport have been that successful team."

WHAT O'BRIEN SAID

There will be more than just three points up for grabs on Saturday at the SToK Racecourse as both teams aim to secure bragging rights by winning the derby. Wrexham will be favourites for victory as they start the game 14 places and 14 points above Newport and know another win will close the gap on League Two leaders Stockport to just three points.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Wrexham will also be hoping for some extra support against Newport. The club are racing against time to <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/wrexham-stand-stok-racecourse-newport-clash-ryan-reynolds-rob-mcelhenney-christmas-plan-still-facing-hurdles/bltc57ba8267f4b0761" target="_blank">open a temporary stand at the Kop end</a> of the ground for the match which would allow an additional 2,289 supporters in to see the game.
