San Diego FC unveil their new state of the art Sharp Performance Training Facility in El Cajon

<p>After breaking ground in May 2022, a lot was expected from San Diego FC’s new training facility especially as reports indicated that the club had big plans for the space. That has now been officially unveiled and San Diego became the first MLS club to establish a training facility on Native American land. The facility is located across 28 acres of Sycuan Reservation in El Cajon and features several amenities including the Right to Dream youth soccer academy.</p><p>SDFC Chairman and Governor Sir Mohamed Mansour oversaw the ribbon-cutting ceremony and revealed that the opening of the facility caps an excellent time for the club.</p><p>"It's another important moment for us all who are connected to San Diego Football Club," Mansour said. "Together, we have done so much, with Cody [Martinez] and Tom [Penn], in such a short space of time. The opening of this wonderful facility caps an incredibly busy period. I want to thank the staff of this Club from the bottom of my heart and our partners here for the hard work and professionalism for this exciting and beautiful facility that has been built.”</p>

WHAT THE CAMERAS CAPUTURED

<p>The training facility, which sits on 28 acres of Sycuan Reservation in El Cajon, features five full-sized soccer fields with three on natural grass and a 5,800-square-foot gym, rehab center, and eight total locker rooms. Over and above that, the facility will also feature the Right to Dream youth soccer academy, which started in 1999 and was started in Ghana. The academy is now a multi-club multi-academy group that has branches in Denmark, Egypt, and now in the United States.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>With preseason still underway for San Diego FC, the club has three more games left on their schedule before their first official game of the 2025 MLS season. That includes clashes against New York City FC, Portland Timbers, and the New York Red Bulls. All that is before the club goes on the road to kick off their first MLS game against LA Galaxy on Feb. 24. </p><p>It has fans of the franchise very excited, especially after an excellent transfer window where the club signed former Napoli star Hirving Lozano, former Brighton winger Andres Dreyer, Andres Reyes from New York Red Bulls, and several other big names.</p>
