While Manchester United's big-name attacking players lost their heads against Jordan Pickford, Scott McTominay kept his. All of a sudden, the much-maligned midfielder has turned into something of a goal machine.

Antony and Marcus Rashford's confidence melted when they came face-to-face with the England goalkeeper, who kept Everton in the match despite United dominating the first half and having 20 shots before the break.

But McTominay was ruthless with the chance he got, his fifth goal in as many games for club and country putting United at ease in a game that could have slipped away from them, especially if Ellis Simms had taken a glorious chance down the other end.
