<p><a href="https://www.theguardian.com/football/2025/jul/16/manchester-united-bryan-mbeumo-stalls-brentford-raise-price-70m" target="_blank"><em>The Guardian</em></a> claims that Brentford have raised their Mbeumo asking price by £5m to £70m, but United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is not prepared to go above the club's £65m ($87m) valuation. The Bees' new price tag is said to have been <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/man-utd-locked-in-bryan-mbeumo-stand-off-brentford-yardstick-transfer-fee-revealed/blt433e36614c861255" target="_blank">met with 'resistance'</a> by Ratcliffe and director of football, Jason Wilcox.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>If United acquiesce to Brentford's demands, Mbeumo would be one of their biggest-ever signings. But if they <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/man-utd-transfer-deadline-ruben-amorim-bryan-mbeumo-deal-pre-season/blt3804e543255955a1" target="_blank">fail to recruit the attacker</a>, it may be another sign that the Red Devils no longer have the pull they once did.</p>

<p>The report adds that Mbeumo told Brentford he wanted to join United, and at the end of June, Ratcliffe and Wilcox believed a £65m package would secure the 25-year-old's services. But now, the Bees are digging their heels in.</p>
