The South Korea international signed a contract extension during the season, taking his deal up until next summer, which means that the club can demand a fee for him in this transfer window.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Son has been Spurs captain since 2023 and won his first senior trophy with the club last month as he lifted the Europa League. <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/martin-zubimendi-appears-to-cast-doubt-on-arsenal-real-sociedad/blte179356013867e71" target="_blank">Manager Ange Postecoglou's future is also in doubt</a>, and there may be an exit for Cristian Romero too, with <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/cristian-romero-flirt-with-atletico-madrid-spurs-defender-reiterates-love-to-play-in-la-liga/blt1eefaad10db15cd1" target="_blank">Atletico Madrid interested</a>. Losing their manager, captain, and vice-captain in one summer would potentially leave a rather large leadership void at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. </p>
