WHAT HAPPENED?

Yamal, who has been one of the stars of the tournament, became the youngest scorer in European Championship history with his goal, breaking a record that was set 20 years prior. The Barcelona winger was <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/spain-france-euro-2024-player-ratings-lamine-yamal-dani-olmo/bltef4b8646795a0975" target="_blank">happy to play such a pivotal role for his team</a>.

"We were in a difficult moment, you wouldn't expect a goal so soon, I wanted to put it in where it went in and I'm very happy," he told La 1. "I try not to think too much, enjoy it and help the team and if it works out like this, I'm happy and content with the victory. I want to win, win and win. Yamal will celebrate his birthday on Saturday, the day before the final, but it will surely not be a wild affair with his team set to face either England or Netherlands, who go head-to-head on Wednesday, in the final.
