Rodri was seen hobbling down the tunnel after the half-time whistle with his head in his hands, and he did not re-emerge for the start of the second half. Martin Zubimendi was brought on for the Manchester City man, who appeared to suffer a hamstring injury after stretching to block a Harry Kane shot.Spain didn't let the setback affect them for long, though, with Nico Williams firing Luis de la Fuente's team in front in the 47th minute after some questionable England defending.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Rodri has been one of Spain's top performers in Germany, featuring in six of their seven matches. The 28-year-old has also weighed in with one goal, while forming a superb partnership with Paris Saint-Germain playmaker Fabian Ruiz.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Rodri has developed into a key figure for Spain in recent years, making 56 appearances for the senior team and scoing four goals. He was part of the side that reached the semi-finals in Euro 2020 as Spain were knocked out by Italy on penalties and he played every minute of his team's four matches at the 2022 World Cup, where they were knocked out by Morocco on penalties in the round of 16.
