Thomas Tuchel is 'very lucky' to be England manager! Ex-Chelsea boss slammed over Bayern Munich sacking as Three Lions told they're not 'more likely to win anything'

<p>The former Arsenal goalkeeper believes Tuchel is fortunate to have been appointed Three Lions manager following Southgate's departure in the wake of the Euro 2024 final defeat.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Tuchel <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/thomas-tuchel-england-stars-morgan-rogers-three-lions-coach-world-cup-glory/blt99ba5c81798f8c12" target="_blank">told the England players that their aim is to win the 2026 World Cup</a> as they gathered for the first time ahead of his first match in charge against Albania on Friday. Lehmann, however, has a pessimistic view of the German coach, citing the German's sacking at Bayern Munich as a reason to be sceptical.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>Lehmann said on <a href="https://talksport.com/football/2966111/thomas-tuchel-lucky-england-national-team-jens-lehmann/" target="_blank"><em>talkSPORT</em></a>: "For me, he is not a traitor. For me, he is very lucky to get such a great job. There must be a reason why he's not with Bayern Munich anymore. It's very difficult to get sacked by Bayern Munich. But we are happy for him that he's the English coach now." </p><p>He added: "It doesn't make England more likely to win anything, but it's good for him. </p><p>"You have to look at Bayern Munich and how they played last season. Then you'll see it. If you understand football, you'll see it."</p>

<p>England get their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign under way at Wembley on Friday. They then host Latvia on Monday.</p>
