'Another star on the jersey!' - Thomas Tuchel's rousing first team talk with England squad revealed as Three Lions aim for World Cup glory in 2026

<p>Tuchel is preparing for his first games in charge of England since replacing Sir Gareth Southgate at the helm. His first-ever Three Lions squad raised quite a few eyebrows as 32-year-old Newcastle defender <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/not-professional-dan-burn-hilarious-phone-call-thomas-tuchel-late-bedtime-england-squad/bltacad4ead75c27aa6" target="_blank">Dan Burn was called up to the national team</a> for the very first time.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p><a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/england-stars-spend-first-moments-thomas-tuchel-st-george-s-park-recalled-jordan-henderson-awarded-hug-new-three-lions-boss/blt717dc8b0e5b6fa67#cs508cf6c0ca8d7942" target="_blank">The Three Lions assembled at St. George's Park on Monday</a> and ahead of conducting his first training session, the ex-Chelsea boss gave a rousing speech to inspire his players, as revealed by Burn. The defender further claimed that Tuchel has his eyes set on the 2026 World Cup trophy as the German coach is trying to incorporate team rituals from the NBA into the England squad.  </p>

<p>In an interaction with the media, the Magpies star told reporters: "He said that the goal is to put another star on the jersey. You could just see looking around that people were tuned in and really wanted to buy into that.</p><p>"He (Tuchel) said he'd spoken to players from previous tournaments and from other countries about what the difference was between when they went out in early rounds and what happened when they won it. And a lot of it was about interactions. He spoke about the NBA - the best teams historically in the NBA are normally the teams who are sort of like high-fiving each other, picking each other up and having a lot of those interactions."</p>

WHAT DAN BURN SAID

<p>Burn also pointed out similarities between Tuchel and Newcastle manager Eddie Howe's coaching styles, adding: "We do a lot of that in Newcastle and speak about it. They can just keep people switched on and give people little bits to keep motivation levels high. I see a lot of similarities between Newcastle and England in that respect so yeah it would be amazing for everyone associated with the whole country really (if England won the World Cup). I’d say from speaking to him (Tuchel) last night, I've got confidence that everything possible will be done to try and finally bring the trophy home."</p>
