WHAT THE PUNDITS ARE SAYING

Dest being ruled out for the remainder of the calendar year puts a lot of things up in the air. First being, his potential permanent transfer from FC Barcelona to the Dutch club, and second, his role with the USMNT.If the 24-year-old can still manage to secure a move to PSV this summer, it's a win-win for all parties involved. He's had an incredible campaign or them, and rewarding him with a permanent move would be the right thing to do.For the U.S. - it's now next man up. Whether that's Tim Weah, Joe Scally, George Bello or a potential change in formation this summer to accommodate his absence... change will happen in the XI.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

The defender will continue to be evaluated over the coming days before determining the best practice going forward for recovery. The USMNT, meanwhile, will be gearing up for a pair of June international friendlies against Brazil and Colombia ahead of the marquee summer tournament.
