UEFA report reveals Chelsea's €1.66bn squad most expensive ever assembled surpassing Real Madrid and trumping Man Utd, Man City & Arsenal

<p>A new UEFA report has revealed the staggering cost of Chelsea's squad, with it being worth over €1.6 billion (£1.39bn/$1.8bn). The huge number outstrips Real Madrid, who had the previous most expensive squad ever assembled in 2020, with theirs being worth £1.12bn ($1.44m).</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Four squads in total in the report had squads that cost over £1bn: Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Arsenal. In addition, Liverpool, Tottenham, Aston Villa, Newcastle and West Ham all make the top 20, with the Hammers somehow building a squad that is worth more than Barcelona's.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>The Premier League's pure financial might is understated by the fact that 60% of the top 10 are English clubs. The only European clubs in the top 10 for squad worth are Real Madrid, PSG, Juventus, and Inter.</p>
