WHAT HAPPENED?

Spain remain top, while England move up to second spot, trading places with their American counterparts, after their recent wins over Italy and Austria. There's little movement elsewhere in the top ten bar some minor moves with Korea Republic sliding two places to 11th.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Since the rankings began in 2003 the USWNT has never been outside of the top two, so the fall to fourth will come as something of a wake-up call for a team in transition and currently under the interim charge of Twila Kilgore as they <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/emma-hayes-confirmed-new-uswnt-coach/blt1c650828651da11a" target="_blank">await the arrival of Chelsea's Emma Hayes.</a>
