<p>Chelsea stormed into a two-goal lead at Manchester United on the final day of the WSL season but had to withdraw Macario 41 minutes in. It was a blow for Emma Hayes' side despite their dominant position as the title was likely to come down to goal difference with the Blues and Manchester City level on points.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>The club's official X account posted about the incident. WHAT CHELSEA SAID

<p>With the season coming to an end, Macario's injury is not the end of the world for Chelsea. However, the  24-year-old is likely to be called up by <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/video-emma-hayes-honours-chelsea-squad-personalised-gift-blues-boss-prepares-final-game-man-utd/bltaf31cd8a9f1eacfb" target="_blank">Emma Hayes when she takes over as USWNT boss</a> in the summer, but may now miss out if her injury is serious.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/catarina-macario-makes-wsl-history-two-assists-in-ten-minutes-for-chelsea-uswnt-star-rout-bristol-city/blt87241ba99fe53d81" target="_blank">Macario has enjoyed her first season in England</a> with the reigning champions but has only made eight WSL appearances. Injuries have kept her sidelined for a large period of the season but she will be hoping to work on her fitness so she can make even more of an impact for the Blues in 2024-25.</p>
