<p>Fernandez saw red in the second half after his attempt to control a bouncing ball saw make contact with Kevin Castano's head. He was subsequently shown a straight red card, as Castano required treatment due to blood being drawn, albeit his reactio was very dramatic.</p>

<p>Argentina were 1-0 down when Fernandez was sent off, after Luis Diaz scored a superb goal for Colombia, but without the midfielder, the World Cup holders fought back, as Thiago Almada equalised while a man down. <p>Argentina return to action in September against Venezuela and Ecuador, but Fernandez will be suspended. The midfielder could next be in action at the Club World Cup, with Chelsea kicking off their tournament against LAFC on June 16.</p>
