<p>Wolves simply cannot steer clear of controversial moments this season amid their disastrous start to the Premier League campaign. The Wolverhampton-based side are stuck down in 19th place after their 2-1 loss to fellow relegation battlers Ipswich Town at Molineux, as Jack Taylor scored in injury time to hand the hosts their 11th loss in 16 league games. WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>A statement released by an <a href="https://x.com/FAspokesperson/status/1868966961197240578" target="_self">FA spokesperson</a> on Tuesday read: "Matheus Cunha has been charged with misconduct following the Premier League match between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Ipswich Town on Saturday, 14 December. The forward allegedly acted in an improper manner after the final whistle. He has until Thursday, 19 December, to provide a response."</p>

WHAT FA SPOKESPERSON SAID

<p>The scuffle started as <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-us/lists/what-s-going-on-at-wolves-furious-ryan-ait-nouri-carried-off-pitch-tempers-flare-ipswich-defeat/bltdefff355c0938e17" target="_blank">Wolves defender Rayan Ait-Nouri was shown a second yellow</a> after losing his temper. Cunha could potentially face a ban for his conduct, which would be another huge blow for Wolves given he is currently their top goalscorer with eight goals in 16 league appearances. Former Premier League referee Mike Dean initially predicted Cunha would face FA punishment, as he told <em>Sky Sports</em> at the weekend: "Going back to the suspension. Cunha, the biggest player that they’ve got. I’ve watched the footage back afterwards. He elbows the back of the head of one of the Ipswich coaches. Then he pulls his glasses off and throws them to the pitch. For me, I think he’ll be in trouble with the FA."</p>

Meanwhile, the club is also on the hunt for a new head coach, with Gary O'Neil given his marching orders after the Ipswich loss, and Portuguese coach Vitor Pereira is currently the favourite to take his spot in the dugout.</p>
