<p>England kicked off their U21 European Championship campaign with a<a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/england-under-21-player-ratings-czechia-european-championship-elliot-anderson-harvey-elliott/blt715863fe6eb5d129" target="_blank"> 3-1 win over Czechia</a>, with Livramento delivering a masterclass from left-back which has drawn the praise of his former team-mate, Theo Walcott, as well as Young Lions assistant manager Ashley Cole.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Touted as the next big thing for the Three Lions, Livramento was surprisingly left out of England's squad for their most recent games by head coach Thomas Tuchel. The German urged the full-back to exceed his expectations at the U21 European Championship during a one-on-one conversation, and he did so with flying colours in the opening game. Livramento stated that he <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/thomas-tuchel-tino-livramento-newcastle-england-senior-team-under-21-european-championship/blta163d1c12f3d541a#csa65658264e35dd27" target="_blank">saw Tuchel's expectations as a "privilege"</a>. </p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>Cole, arguably the greatest English full-back of all-time, spoke highly about Livramento's hunger and tipped him to have a bright future. Speaking after the game, Cole said: "As coach, you stand on the sideline and see how much information he takes on and takes on board. And I keep saying it, but the willingness to want to learn and be the best, I think is always a great trait to have.</p><p>"Whatever level he wants to get to, he can get to because he's got that personality and desire. I think he's got a beautiful future, a bright future. Long may it continue that he keeps playing for Newcastle, keeps gaining experience and keeps his levels up."</p><p>Walcott, who was Livramento's team-mate at Southampton, believes that former Chelsea academy starlet has got all the ingredients to become a future England captain: "I like him on left," Walcott said. "He’s kind of a right-footed Gareth Bale in stature and the way he runs and I feel like he’d be the perfect wing-back for me.</p><p>"He is a potential [England] future captain, just because of his presence and how he is around the place. As a player he’s got the potential to be that leader and they just want more of that because they can see it in him, I can see it in him. You need a little bit more out of him and this tournament can bring a side out of him that he’s not used to."</p>

WHAT HAS BEEN SAID

<p>The Croydon-born Newcastle man will be hoping to continue delivering the goods at the U21 European Championship with the Young Lions and build towards sealing a spot in the England senior team's squad for next year's World Cup. Carlsey's troops will next face Slovenia on Sunday.</p>
