<p>The Manchester United legend did not quite manage to see his team pick up the three points, thanks to a late stoppage time goal from Morgan Whittaker, after he was given the marching orders in the 87th minute against Blackburn at Home Park on Saturday afternoon.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>The hosts got off to a bright start and took just 15 minutes to get their noses in front after Michael Obafemi drew first blood. Plymouth were put under intense pressure from a chasing Blackburn and they finally cracked four minutes from regulation time with Joe Rankine-Costello grabbing a late equaliser. <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/grumpy-wayne-rooney-saudi-pro-league-coaching-ultimatum-wife-coleen-spotlight-man-utd-academy-hopeful-kai/blt6a9726deee99e49f" target="_blank">Rooney raged at the fourth official Jacob Miles </a>after his team conceded late as he was convinced that there was a foul in the build-up. Miles deemed that the former England striker crossed the line while expressing his dissent and called upon referee James Linington, <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/plymouth-pressure-wayne-rooney-up-at-night-man-utd-legend-captain-explain-doing-right-coaching-post/blt447e89cbbdcee107" target="_blank">who then produced the red card.</a></p>

<p>After Rooney was sent down the tunnel, Plymouth threw caution to the wind and went all guns blazing for the winner. They were rewarded handsomely for their perseverance as Whittaker headed home in the seventh minute of stoppage time. Rooney was all smiles after the final whistle as he returned to the pitch to thank the fans for their vociferous support.</p>
