The Spain international has been <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/barcelona-ready-to-trigger-nico-williams-release-clause-to-lure-spain-hero-from-athletic-club/bltea60bba8c84e0030" target="_blank">linked with a move to the Catalan club throughout the summer</a>, however, the Blaugrana have now reportedly given up on their transfer pursuit. </p>

<p>The report further claims that the player's family and Athletic Club are putting pressure on him to stay back for at least one more season and therefore a section of the Barcelona officials are convinced that the <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/barcelona-transfer-target-nico-williams-doubts-joining-hansi-flick/blt426426630ded7b48#cs8a59e586086efa99" target="_blank">transfer won't take place this summer</a>. </p>

The attacking midfielder reportedly wants to move to Catalonia and based on that, the club have initiated talks with the Bundesliga side. </p>
