Why Manchester United will drop Snapdragon for (RED) logo for one match in the 2024/25 season - explained

<p>United’s front-of-shirt sponsor Snapdragon will not feature on the jerseys of the men’s and women’s teams in their respective Premier League and Women’s Super League clashes against West Ham and Arsenal on May 10 and May 11 respectively. As part of their sponsorship deal with Qualcomm Technologies, the club can nominate a charitable organisation to feature on the front of their jersey instead of Snapdragon for one match per season.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>The Red Devils and Snapdragon have decided to join hands to contribute to the global fight against health injustice. As part of their drive, they will allow the (RED) logo to feature on their iconic Red jersey. Limited edition jerseys featuring the (RED) logo will be made available for the fans to purchase along with other merchandise and the profit will be donated to the Global Fund with additional matching by the Bill &amp; Melinda Gates Foundation.</p>

THE EXPLANATION

<p>Speaking on the noble initiative, United CEO Omar Berrada said: “Through the power and innovation of our relationship with Qualcomm Technologies we are proud to use the front of the Manchester United shirt to tell the story of the vital work undertaken by (RED) to fight against health injustice. </p><p>“Qualcomm Technologies shares our ambition to use football as a force for good and this activation underlines that aspiration, especially at a time when the world faces enormous challenges in helping the most vulnerable in society.” </p><p>Don McGuire, SVP and Chief Marketing Officer of Qualcomm, stated: “We believe that Snapdragon technology can help change the world, and we are proud to support (RED) and its mission to eradicate health injustice. Snapdragon is inside billions of devices around the world that people use every day, bringing technology to people’s fingertips and delivering lifechanging access to healthcare and other resources that would be inaccessible otherwise. </p><p>"As the front of shirt partner for Manchester United, we understand the power of the team’s front of shirt placement, with one Manchester United Premiere League match providing the same exposure as a championship level sporting event, and we couldn’t think of a better organization to spotlight for the more than one billion Manchester United fans than (RED).”</p>

WHAT HAS BEEN SAID

<p>Qualcomm Technologies and (RED) have collaborated in the past in changing lives in vulnerable communities. (RED) has helped generate more than $785 million for the Global Fund since 2006 and that money has helped more than 325 million people across the world.</p>
