Jack Wilshere has found himself the focal point of a social media storm following praise for Manchester United's Wayne Rooney.
Rooney struck his 250th United goal on Saturday in Manchester United's 1-1 draw with Stoke, putting him above Sir Bobby Charlton in the club's all-time goalscoring charts.

Wilshere - who played alongside Rooney at international level for England - joined in the congratulations, taking to Twitter to share his message to the Three Lions captain.
"Unbelievable achievement @WayneRooney. Proper captain and by far the best I have played with. #RoleModel," Wilshere stated on his social media account.
Whether Wilshere meant Rooney as the best captain he has ever played under, or the best player he has played alongside was unclear, though Arsenal fans took an opportunity to lambast the midfielder, who is spending the season on loan at fellow Premier League side Bournemouth.
While some suggested that Mesut Ozil was a better player than Rooney, others begged the playert to delete the tweet before anyone picked up on his praise for a rival.
