WHAT HAPPENED? Cristiano Ronaldo was part of a panel in Riyadh, capital of Saudi Arabia, to mark the country launching the first Esports World Cup in 2024. The Al-Nassr forward also met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman at the event.
"An honour to meet again with His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman and great to be part of this panel today discussing the future of esports and the launch of the first ever #esportsworldcup that will be held in Saudi Arabia next year!" he wrote on X.

WHAT NEXT FOR SAUDI ARABIA? In its efforts to become a major player in global sport, the wealthy Gulf nation is expected to be named as host for the 2034 FIFA World Cup. Interest has also been expressed in hosting the FIFA Women's World Cup in 2035.
