EA Sports reveal FIFA Global Series Rankings

EA Sports have revealed the FIFA Global Series Rankings to show which players have acquired the most circuit points and are currently the closest to qualifying for the eWorld Cup.

For the new competitive season of FIFA, EA have changed the qualification format to ensure that only the best players qualify. In FIFA 19, winning LAN tournaments will not only result in prize money but also points which will move you up a global leaderboard. The players who sit on top of said standings by the end of the season will then qualify for the eWorld Cup.

There haven’t been many FIFA 19 tournaments as of yet but there are already a few familiar names at the top including reigning eWorld Cup champion, and recent Console Player of the Year winner, Mossad ‘MSDossary’ Aldossary who is currently second place on Xbox thanks to his PlayStation appearance at the Continental Cup During Paris Games Week.

Just 10 points ahead of the champion with a score of 120 is unsigned FIFA player Jesus0716 from Hong Kong, who reached the Round of 16 of the Paris tournament.

That Continental Cup has been the only major live event so far, leaving the Xbox points rather low. Currently top of the world is Joksan ‘Joksan’ Redona who was crowned the Continental Cup champion after coming back to defeat Basel’s Tim ‘TheStrxnger’ Katnawatos in the final. Joksan, who represents Epsilon, currently has 855 points but there is a long haul of tournaments still to go.

Players complained last year that the format did not promote consistency as pros had to perform well in a single, one off eWorld Cup Playoff tournament in order to qualify. The Playoffs still exist but rather than guarantee a place, it simply offers the most global points out of any tournament with the winner receiving 1,800 points - more than double than what any player currently has.

FUT Champion Cups, with the first starting this month, and FIFA Majors will give 1500 points to the winners while Licensed Qualifying Events like the Continental Cup and Official League Partners like the ePremier League will give 850 points to their respective champions.
