- Yoshida 'embarrassed' by Galaxy performances
- LA miss out on playoffs
- Worst-ever Galaxy season
WHAT HAPPENED? The Galaxy signed Yoshida on August 3 via a free transfer through the end of the 2024 season, and after his arrival, they managed just three wins in 12 matches. They conceded 30 goals during that 12-match span, missing out on the playoffs and keeping just one clean sheet.
WHAT THEY SAID: "I read this is the worst season in the Galaxy's history... so it's embarrassing to be honest," he said. "Last five games it was really, really embarrassing, the results and performance... and without the passion as well."
THE BIGGER PICTURE: This was the worst-ever campaign for the Galaxy, they came up short in every category, from disappointing in tournament play to falling short in the regular season. They lost their star striker Chicharito Hernandez early in the campaign, but brought in three more forwards to try and shore up their issues, but no success came about.
They languished at the bottom of the Western Conference all season, and nothing changed. May saw them fire 11-year President Chris Albright after fan protests surfaced around the former USMNT player, but head coach Greg Vanney was given the entire season to turn things around; he didn't. His future is certainly up in the air this offseason.
