Pochettino’s side have won their last two home games against Stoke and Everton and the Argentine has joked that he is happy for his wife to stay away from the ground for now.

“In the last few weeks she has not been coming to White Hart Lane so I said, ‘better you stay at home because we keep winning,’” he told reporters.

The Spurs boss also revealed what his wife had thought of his behaviour during his side’s recent 3-2 win over Everton.

Pochettino was seen celebrating widely as Dele Alli made it 3-1 in stoppage time before another late goal from Romelu Lukaku set up a nervy finish.

“I was mad,” he added. “When we finished the game, I saw my phone and my wife said, ‘Oh, what did you do? You lost your head when Dele scored?’ Never again’, my wife said.

“She always has ideas for the team. She always when I arrive home because she was watching on TV, she says ‘why this or why that’?

“She always gave the opinion, but always after, never before. We lose – ‘why play this? Why not that? Why not change?’”

Pochettino was also asked how often his wife has to tell him off, answering: “She only tells me once — that is enough.”

Tottenham are at home again on Sunday as they take on League One side Millwall in the sixth round of the FA Cup.
