Tottenham caretaker manager Ryan Mason reveals he is gunning for full-time job after taking over from Cristian Stellini

WHAT HAPPENED? After sacking Antonio Conte a few weeks back, Tottenham's caretaker manager Cristian Stellini was also shown the exit door after a shambolic 6-1 defeat against Newcastle United. Spurs have now appointed Ryan Mason as Stellini's successor at the club as the former Tottenham player looks to resurrect the English side. Mason has also expressed his desire to become Tottenham Hotspur's full-time manager next season with the London-based club looking to find themselves a new manager.

WHAT THEY SAID: Mason, who's been handed the caretaker manager role for the second time, feels that he's ready for the role and is gearing up to be appointed on a permanent basis.

"Naturally I feel comfortable, it's just part of being involved in football. You have to be ready and I am ready. I don't doubt that," Mason told the Telegraph.

"I’m ready and if that [full-time] situation happens it obviously means I have done a good job, but that is obviously in the future of four, five, six weeks’ time,'' stated Mason.

THE BIGGER PICTURE: With Spurs scheduled to play Manchester United at home on Thursday, Mason will want his team to improve quickly. The current Tottenham boss feels that the relationship between the club and their fans have been damaged after their previous loss and expects the club's faithful to back them in their own backyard against the Red Devils.

"I understand that relationship has wavered recently but there's no doubt we need them and want them on board, and hopefully Thursday they can feel us. I hate when we lose like our players and fans and we know that in recent weeks or month, it hasn’t been good enough of what we expected and like I said, football can change quickly and I hope we can put in the performance to forget that," illustrated Mason.
