Usain Bolt set for Borussia Dortmund trial with Man Utd dreams on horizon

Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that they will welcome Usain Bolt to training on Friday, with the Jamaican sprinter set to attempt to earn a contract at the Bundesliga club.

Bolt is one of the most recognised athletes in the world, having stormed into the record books on several occasions, most notably holding the world record at 100 metres and having claimed eight Olympic gold medals in sprint disciplines.

He has, however, harboured a long-term ambition of becoming a professional footballer and has previously expressed his belief that he can transfer his lightning speed to good effect on the park.

On Friday, he will get his chance to impress the Bundesliga giants in Puma's latest publicity stunt with the renowned athlete.

“BVB, get ready for Friday,” Bolt, 31, posted to his Twitter account.

In response, Dortmund confirmed: “Bolt is coming!”

Dortmund’s training session is scheduled for 10:30am local time and is set to be open to the public, who should get quite the experience.

The 31-year-old is a huge Manchester United fan and admitted after the Match for Friendship on Wednesday that he had discussed the possibility of a trial at Old Trafford with manager Jose Mourinho.

Barcelona great Xavi has previously expressed his doubts about the sprinter successfully making the transition, but this could be the athlete's big chance to prove him wrong.
